Does the Bloc Accept Political Contributions from English Canada?
In light of recent events, a strong progressive feminist candidate like Vivian Barbotneeds our help in her re-election campaign in Papineau... but does anyone know if BQ candidates accept contributions from folks outside of Quebec?
BC dipper, I don't think that's a fair comparison. First, there are very few left-wing progressive feminists in the Liberal caucus. Barbot deserves our support - the NDP would go nuts if it had candidates in Quebec of her stature and background.
Second, the NDP is a very anglo, very centralist party which has historically been out of step with Quebecers on that national question. Quite simply, with very few exceptions, it doesn't make sense for the NDP to run candidates in Quebec, especially when a credible, progressive option like the BQ is available.
So let me get this straight... you NDP bloggers are all up in ARMS over the Dion-May pact to remove a 3rd place Liberal out of the riding to support May against MacKay... but its ok to try and divert money to the Bloc Candidate - a separatist at that - to support her against Trudeau over your own NDP candidate?
I don't speak for all NDP bloggers (I don't even belong to the party) and I certainly wasn't "up in arms" about the Dion-May pact. If you want to call someone a hypocrite, make sure you know what you're talking about.

JUST ASK
Didn't "the BUZZ" of CAW advocate voting for the BLOC in the last election?
Um.. you're willing to try to elect a separatist candidate, merely because you dislike Justin Trudeau?
I'd take the Bloc over the Liberals any day of the week.
Couldn't the NDP association use the money?
Probably, but why waste it on a sure loser when a left-wing progressive feminst is the incumbent?
My, that line of reasoning sounds exactly the same as the one the Liberals try to pull against the NDP in most of Canada.

Yea.. no hypocrisy there.
Scott,
