This is very interesting. Although one-member-one vote does have the potential to help parties raise more money and involve a wider spectrum of party activists, I've never been a huge supporter of OMOV, largely because I think it's no more democratic than a delegated convention and wide open to fraud. OMOV conventions also tend to be boring and attract less media attention than delegated conventions. Lots of things bug me about the Manitoba NDP - its embrace of neo-liberalism, its refusal to reform the province's electoral system, and its decision not to ban scab labour. These public policy issues are far more important than the party's decision to scrap OMOV.
