Greg Morrow complains that the blogosphere is not paying enough attention to the issue of electoral reform in Ontario. He's right. The Ontario Citizens’ Assembly on Electoral Reform, a forum which brings together citizens from Ontario’s 103 ridings, is in the process of reviewing our first-past-the-post voting system and evaluating the merits of adopting an alternative voting system. The Citizen's Assembly will make recommendations in the coming months, and Ontario voters will be able to accept or reject them in a referendum to be held in conjunction with the October 4, 2007 provincial election. Greg has written an interesting submission to the Citizen's Assembly which you can read here.
In addition, Fair Vote Canada has a large selection of online resources for people interested in learning more about proportional representation. Of particular interest to Ontarians should be this Fair Vote publication entitled "Dubious Democracy: Report on Ontario Elections 1980-2003".
