WSIB Safety Ads Cause Controversy
Some folks are complaining that the Ontario Government's Workplace Safety and Insurance Board TV spots are a little too graphic for young children. I happen to like the entire series of ads which you can preview at:
Blaming the company for misuse of a properly labeled tool is what is going to create workplaces with 2 day courses on WHMIS and Safety, and mandatory safety glasses and visible vests for every citizen on the planet.
The woman in the video stood on a ladder too small for her, and stepped on a rung clearly labeled not a step. It's people like that who blame a lack of proper worker education. But the WSIB campaign is misguided and misdirected. Yes, proper usage of tools and machinery is important. Blaming society for your own idiocy doesn't fly.
